| >> Who should have a Web Page? | ||||||||||||||
| Anyone with a product, a service, a thought, an idea, a goal, a concept, or even a story that he/she wishes to share with the world, can do so easily with a webpage! | ||||||||||||||
| >> Why have a Web Page? | ||||||||||||||
|
If you have business cards, you should have a web page. Think of
it as incredibly low-cost advertising for your business, your
service, or even just thoughts you want to share with people. It
allows easy updating (unlike printed brochures or cards or ads),
and allows people a chance to get more information about you and
your business in the way they want to receive it. With traditional forms of advertising, you're limited by the amount of space available (a business card is only 3 1/2 by 2 inches) or by the amount of time available (a 30 second television commercial). With add-ons like e-mail newsletters to announce updates and changes, or customer feedback forms, you dramatically improve customer response. That's when you really start building a relationship with your customers. |

| >> How will it help me? I'm local. | ||||||||||||||
| Don't let the "world" in the "world wide web" fool you. Not only is the world on the web, but also is your next door neighbor. Take a look at sites that have a similar focus to yours. See how they are encouraging business for their local community. And who knows, you may even discover a way to make your business a little more "world wide" then you ever dreamed! | ||||||||||||||
| >> How much will it cost? | ||||||||||||||
| Compare that to the cost of a business card sized ad in the Yellow Pages. Think about how much more you can say in the size that is offered on the Internet. Think about all the colors you can use, at no extra cost! | ||||||||||||||
| >> Four basics of Web Planning and Design? | ||||||||||||||
|
Our commitment to gracefulness can be reduced to the four
important aspects of planning to obtain a web design, speed,
beauty, compatibility, and easy navigation. Speed: if your first page takes more than 30 seconds (at 28.8) to download, most people will leave without ever seeing your site. Why pay for a site that no one will ever see? We are committed to designing a first page that loads in under 30 seconds. We are committed to designing the fastest loading page possible, on every page in the site. Beauty: Just because your web site is fast, compatible, and easy to use, doesn't mean it is boring! A beautiful site design is a major part of our philosophy. We don't want to waste your time, on something that doesn't enchant you. When was the last time you were enchanted by boredom? Compatibility: Did you notice that we didn't ask you to change to a different browser, download a new font, change your screen resolution, or change your browser width to view our site? We believe that visitors hate to be forced to change things on their computer just to view a site. After all, there are plenty of sites out there. If it's too much trouble to view one site, there are plenty of others to see. Ram World treats your site design with the same philosophy, making it accessible to the greatest number of visitors. Because it doesn't matter how great your site is, if half your visitors can't view it. Your web page has to be functional with a wide variety of browsers, many of which may not be the latest, most up-to-date versions available. We're committed to designing web pages that can be best viewed by any browser, and hiding things like JavaScript, and Cascading Style Sheets from the older browsers that can't handle those little extras. Easy Navigation: If visitors get lost in your site, or can't find their way around, they won't want to come back. Every graphical link should also have a text link available, for those visitors that aren't using graphics. If it is a large site then an index, or site map is a nice touch, to make navigation as simple as possible. Summary: The best design is one, which makes the user remember they were there, without getting OUT-OF their way. In short, the object of graceful web design is to enhance your product, not overwhelm or obscure what you are offering. On the main page, we said that Ram World had a commitment to gracefulness. What is a commitment to gracefulness? Gracefulness means having a beauty of form, composition, and expression. It means thoughtfulness towards others. And it has connotations of effortlessness. In other words, we believe that beauty is a function of look, as well as a function of style. Beautiful pages look good to the eye, as well as to the code. Gracefulness means thinking about what you want to present, and how you want it presented. It means doing these things well, and making it easy for others. Above all, it means being thoughtful to the client and the visitor. |
